Before we get to the results I’m happy to report that 12 of the 13 groups finished in under 5 hours yesterday with the final group walking off the 18th green in 5:01. Nice job to everyone for keeping pace yesterday.
Also congratulations to Dennis King who recorded his first hole-in-one yesterday. He aced the Par 3 149-yard 12th hole. Nice shot!!!
NICKLAUS FLIGHT
Michael Bowen won his first major, firing a gross 76 for a 3-under 69 (net). Bowen shot even par on the front side and recorded an eagle on the 16th hole after his tee shot stopped a mere 3 inches from a hole-in-one on the 250 yard par 4. Larry Redmond and Ed Thompson finished a shot back at net 70.
PALMER FLIGHT
In a reinactment of last year, a Palmer Flight player goes real low to win at Stonelick. Last year it was Venkat Devireddy’s 78 that prevailed. This year it was Jay Sigler who posted a gross 75 (net 63) to walk away with a 6-shot cushion and his first OVGA Tour victory. Sigler was 2-under (gross) on the front and made the turn at net 28. Charles Felts came in second with a net 69.
HOGAN FLIGHT
James Crockett fired the low net round of the tournament, finishing up with a gross 101 for a net 61 in route to his second victory of the season and his first major championship. Crockett shot net 28 on the back nine to push away from Mike Greivenkamp and John Mentzel and claim victory. Greivenkamp and Mentzel would finish 5 shots back and net 66.
TREVINO FLIGHT
Crockett’s net 61 was good enough (big surprise) to capture the Trevino Flight by 5 shots over Greivenkamp and Mentzel. Michael Bowen would finish in 3rd place.
LOPEZ FLIGHT
Mary Sturgill won her second major of the year in the Lopez Flight with a 102-74 that was good for a 6-shot victory over Phyllis Bare.
ON TO THE PLAYOFFS
The 2008 regular season has now concluded and we’re on to the Conquest Cup Playoffs next week at Magestic Springs in Wilmington. All Tour players are still welcome to play each week from now to the Tour Championship. Trophies will still be awarded to the winners of each flight regardless of where they stand in the playoff race.
Points will be reset and posted here on the blog and that will be the starting point for the Conquest Cup Rankings. I will have a detailed description of the playoffs posted later tonight as well.
Good luck to everyone as the Race for the Conquest Cup begins!

Congrats on the fine play. Sounds like the OVGA came very close to two double eagles along with the hole-in-one.
More importantly, congrats on the PoP! A course like Stonelick can easily invite some PoP nightmares. Keep the momentum going!
