This week’s Hole Of The Week is the intimidating 7th hole, a lengthy par 3 to a long skinny green. This number 10 hdcp hole is listed as 205 yards on the scorecard, but the yardage plate on the tee says 196, which seems more correct. Right of the green is a lake which stretches the entire length of the hole. Left and back of the green, the terrain slopes off severely, so that any shot missing long or left leaves a difficult up and down attempt. To avoid the water or the steep drop off, a player may attempt to play short of the green and hope to get up and down from the fairway area, which doubles as the drop area for shots that find the lake. However, this still requires a well struck shot, not to mention a good short game. This hole might be the most intimidating par 3 we play all year. Miss the green anywhere except short, and a bogey or worse is almost guaranteed.
