The Flights are getting a makeover for the upcoming season. Gone are the Eagle, Birdie and Par flights. The three flights will now be known as the Nicklaus, Palmer and Hogan flights.
The PGA has the Champions Tour for their 50 and over golfers and the OVGA now is no different. The OVGA’s distinguished ladies and gentlemen can now compete against playes in their own age bracket as well as the 3 main flights. Below you’ll see the rules for the newly created Trevino Flight.
Trevino Flight Rules
1. Eligibility: Must be 50 years of age or older by April 12, 2008
2. If a player turns 50 years of age during the season, they will be added to the Trevino Flight upon their birthday.
3. Each player will still play in their respective flights (Nicklaus, Palmer, Hogan)
4. Trevino Flight players will play the tees assigned to their respective flights.
5. All OVGA rules and regulations are to be followed.
6. Scoring will be calculated in this flight the same as the other flights with winners being announced when all scorecards have been recorded at the course.
7. Points will be awarded for the players finishes in both his regular flight and the Trevino Flight.
At the end of the season a Champion will be determined in the Trevino Flight. This will be determined either by the Conquest playoff format or by cumulative total points. It is possible for a Trevino Flight player to win the Trevino Flight and their other respective flight (Nicklaus, Palmer or Hogan flight) during the same tournament and in the season’s long points race.
This is just another way the OVGA continues to be
THE BEST GOLF IN TOWN…ANY WAY YOU SLICE IT!
